" Actually it has the opposite effect on me and makes me rush headlong at things that are stressing me in an attempt to get it all over and done with! Not always the best policy, there must be a middle ground somewhere! Jennie "

" I find that stress DOES in fact make it harder for me to get up and do what I have to do. I end up second guessing myself trying to figure out the right course of action. More often than not I end up regretting the decision I do take, which is a horrible feeling.

I've managed to get a little better at this in the last few years. Im getting it together with a med science degree and a self help website (www.mindstorming.com.au) that I started a few weeks ago. Im loving every minute of it, and can't wait to get up and get into it.

Some days are better than others of course. Just gotta focus on the positives. "

" clear decision is often marred by the good ol' 'what if' mind set! way too much pontification of all the variable outcomes. When you ask this question, your mind searches for all the previous knowledge on the subject and also comes up with some new, not previously thought of variables, so it's no wonder that while it's doing this, you stand there in mental deadlock. What can be of use is to 'stay in the NOW' instead of allowing thoughts to drift into all those possible outcomes, you can 'snap back to the NOW' and ask yourself "what do i want" (remember guys, state it in the positive, NOT, "i hope i dont" BUT, "I want to...") see the outcome you DO want! imagine it strongly! and if you find yourself drifting into "ye but what if..." SNAP BACK TO THE NOW!
to override the old way of thinking, you have to keep it up, daily, and soon you will be more decisive!
Also being as calm as possible will alow better thinking, so do some deep breathing, this is natures calmer downer! do this a lot!
hope this helps
H. "

" I'm glad some of you have said yes - I've become very good at procrastinating following a recent complete burnout. Thought I was fixed and have gone back to work full time but I'm having doubts now as some familiar feelings are returning and they don't sit well...:o( "

" I'm a huge procrastinator when i'm stressed... I can never understand why either because A: if I get it done, I won't be stressed anymore and B: I'll be busy and distracting myself from the stress. For some reason I sure can't seem to get that and I always put things off. "

" yes, but it also does the opposite. i get very uptight until i've organized as much as i can or have some order in my life, and then, i feel better. "
