" With stress you generally know the cause of it and it's something that's been building up over time. Depression has it's own symptoms can either be the result of stress or triggered by a traumatic event. That's my experience of the two anyway. I hope it helps. "

" Can't tell you how much this reply has helped me understand what's happening in my head. I can now make that missing link and can now understand why I'm being treated for depression and not stress. Thanks so much Harry "

" harrydavis i got what you were saying. I don't discourage people with depression from seeking help but in my book I found out that the treatments dont work because the reasons for the depression are still there....so deal with the cause first then the symptoms is the way i see it. "

" I agree with Katie. You have to treat the cause if you want true relief. I found mine using cbt- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Good luck. "

" I think stress can trigger depression. Depression can also weaken your ability to deal with stress. When you are depressed (and it may be the stressors in your life depressing you) your brain slows down, it's harder to make decisions, it's harder to stay focused, it's harder to manage in general, so the stressors can be harder to manage. I'm sure that if you seek help for depression, you will also find that you delve into your stress and how to manage/cope. I hope that helps. I think we've all been there. "

" I started a new job recently with longer hours and suddenly feel worn out, weary, and weak. I also went to the Dr who couldn't find anything wrong. I'm thinking stress or depression. "
