My math teacher I have known since I was little and He has always helped me out. Whenever I needed help he was there. Well I'm in high school now and he is my teacher. I have a difficult time with math and am struggling all the time. Had a pretty good chance of making it work. Then he changed systems. He gives you a paper on monday (it actually dosent make it to us till wednesday or thursday) It has all of our homework assignments on it. Everyday has an assignment including fridays. Its all good. All for pre-planning. But get this, He dosent pick the homework up. If you do the homework good for you if not dosent matter because he won't know you didnt do it. Then he will give you a quiz everyday 5 problems. That and the weekly test is all he will grade. Well Thats ok if you can test well. I DO NOT I hyperventilate and my head gets blurry and I shake like I'm having a siesure. Its seriously damaging me. It wouldn't be to bad if I didnt have to be eligible for track, I go to regionals next weekend. I HAVE to be eligible. Like it will even matter for my future for a scholorship to go to college after I graduate high school early. If I do well in regionals I could go places. This is huge, the only thing standing in my way and making it to state is my math grade. Which has the poossibility to be an f soon. How do I fix this?

ironically, people often have test anxiety and if you ask them "what do you think the anxiety is trying to get for you" they will say "well, i guess it's trying to make sure i do well" but the anxiety itself inhibits good performance. All emotions are messages from the unconscious for us to act apon, and the unconscious only wants what's best for us, HOWEVER in it's attempt to communicate to us it's intentions, it can ramp up the emotion too much, therebye causing another problem (nobody said it's perfect!)
You see, you panic because there is a lot at stake and because deep down your unconscious knows you don't understand some of the math principals, it sends a feeling (anxiety) to warn you to gain the knowledge because when you feel you can do the test with ease, you will be relaxed as the unconscious will withdraw the anxiety, get the idea? Now i know you find some of the math a bit of a challenge but if you find someone to explain the principals in different ways, you may latch onto one and you will feel more confident, pehaps it's time to seek another teacher who has a different take on the math and may have a way of getting the understanding into you. have you thought about searching for math forums where people may help you, it's a thought! Now you must understand this!, your mind DOES understand more than you think, so you will have to trust this to be the case, however you will need to be more relaxed to let it do it's work, TRUST IT!!!! Nobody died because of a grade, so you will survive, ok? God will not smite you for anything lower than an A, so relax by breathing deep! practice doing a mock test at home while you have relaxing music on and breathe deep to relax, soon your mind will learn to be relaxed while in these conditions. Sit how you would in a test, have some paper and pens in front of you so it all looks the part, then relax your shoulders, back, arms, everything! and then begin to write out some easy math questions eg 2+2=4 i know it seems silly but you are training your brain, remember? DO THIS EVERY DAY, I MEAN IT !!!! you will reduce the triggers of anxiety. Your mind does not know the difference between strongly imagined and real, want proof, think now about sucking on a piece of lemon, it's bitterness is so very sharp on your toungue that you begin to salivate with antisipation of it's effect on your tongue! (mouth a bit juicier, thought so) so by imagining a calm test, you will be calmer when it's real, after all athletes imagine their discipline going well, so become a mathlete. here if you need to talk!
