I have a friend that I am so frusterated with I could scream, she has a mother 80 yrs.old with demensia really bad, poor health, AND NO-ONE TO TAKE CARE OF HER DAILY,she also has 2 brothers that lives in moms house one is mentally challenged ,cant do much for himself has a mind of a 5 yr.old, another brother that is physically able but mentally slow and irresponsible, The mom bought her home 20yrs. ago and the place literally need condemed, the kitchen its so nasty and falling apart and bathroom you cant even walk into, now noone gives the 2 adults that are disabled a bath, the one son has signed moms name to 19,000 worth of credit cards, I dont get it how anyone can sit and watch there mom rot like this and I am mad , my friend has power of attorney of her mom, and says she is tired of doing things for them ,she feels the one brother could do a better job of taking care of them because he has never worked, finally I reached a older brother with the problem and he says he will try to get mom in a nursing home, this family has no money, I suppose I should mind my own business, but if social services went into that home they would immediately remove MOM and the disabled brother, I have felt like reporting it myself, any advice on how to help the one brother get his mom out, and he needs power of attorney, or do I mind MY O B THANKS

NO, You need to report this ASAP. Put yourself in their place, would you want someone to treat you that way if you were incapable of taking care of yourself? This is abuse! Please report it.

I agree with her. Report it. This is bad, this needs to be reported. It is abuse and there is money ouyt there to take care of the mom and disabled. Its possible to get them help. Good luck!!

Look - things like this hppen to the elderly, disadvantaged, children etc.. because good people mind their own business - there is a time and a place to mind your place - this is NOT one of them as a fellow citizen, as a fellow human - if you are as aware of this situation as you obviously are,you actually have a duty of care to do so. REPORT IT!!!

update on the mother, she is now in a nursing home only because shortly after this post she became sick and was admitted to the hospital, she is doing ok, needless to say I really have stopped calling my friend she doesnt return my calls and Im sure she had become irrated with me, thats ok
