Grave blankets, etc.

So, instead of picking out presents for my baby boy, I am picking out his grave blanket... I don't have to tell you how much I hate this or how everything I can do for Owen needs to be just perfect because there are so few things I will ever be able to do for him... I want his grave blanket to be special, but my creativity is lacking. I guess I'm thinking I'd like to have the florist replace the usual ornaments and pinecones with angels or fire engines (my husband is a fireman) or something like that... Has anyone done anything like that, or does anyone have any special plans for the cemetery this holiday season? Thanks!

" I'm not sure what we're going to do for Amariah. I would love to have a miniature Christmas tree or something like that to put at her grave. I'm with you, right now my creativity is lacking, sometimes I can come up with some really good ideas but when it comes to Amariah it has to be perfect like you said. I'm kind of still looking for ideas as to what to put at the cemetery. What exactly is a grave blanket, I've never heard of that. "

" A grave blanket is basically like a wreath that covers the grave... They usually have ornaments, pinecones, and/or bows... I was thinking maybe I could pick up some special ornaments and bring them to the florist to use... I do like the idea of a little Christmas tree too though, I hadn't thought of that. "

" I am decorating a small Christmas tree to put in Ian's vase. I will put floral Styrofoam in the vase and stick the tree in that. I made two trees for my father-in-laws grave last year and they were so cute. Once I started thinking about Christmas, I knew I wanted to make a tree for Ian too. "

" I too have never heard of a grave blanket. What a lovely idea. When I read the posts about this I felt so sad that I don't have a place for Angela - I don't even know what happened to her little body all those years ago. But I also felt happy thinking about the love and care that is going into these plans. To some people a stillbirth is just a nothing, a mistake of nature, of no value. But to us, our babies are precious and worthy of all the love we can give them. It is wonderful to hear about the ways people express that love. "

" I love the idea of a grave blanket, and what you thought of even if you feel it's lacking creativity our daughter Tiffany has a nook and it's glass so we can see through it, for Halloween we just put up a pumpkin stick-em and we are going to go replace that this week with a turkey and we have a snowman one too for Christmas, we are also thinking about finding a small Christmas tree that we can decorate to put in her flower vase it's very small but I want to do something for her since this would have been her 1st Christmas with us and her sisters "
