I had a nerve block. It was really cool I got to watch it on the screen but it was really weird not feeling my leg for several hours. I actually had 2 tears 1 very large, severe arthritis & some exposed bone so its taking a little longer than I expected but each day gets better. Good luck with your surgery !

I had a pretty good size tear, from front to back, so I had a big chunk removed, along with some cleanup of 'crumbs' under the knee cap.
I was at physio on Friday June26, surgery had been on Tuesday afternoon June23. I was also working with my trainer the following week. Granted, we stepped back from what I was doing before surgery, but I am now pretty much back to where I was before the tear. The hospital gave me pain pills but I took one on the nite of the surgery and doubt I needed it. I just did not want to wake up in the middle of the nite in any pain. I forgot to mention - I walked out of the hospital and needed no crutches or any assistance. Unless you are getting something really major done, or some reconstruction, I am betting you will not have any issues. My ortho surgeon had about a dozen or more patients all lined up for the day for various knee surgeries. The recovery room lazy boy chairs were full of his patients. waiting for their rides to go home. Good luck with your surgery.

I still have some swelling problems when my knee is overworked and I have a slight balance problem (when I stand on that leg alone), but it definitely helped a ton! It wasn't bad at all.
My meniscus actually ripped off of the bone and lodged in my knee joint, so I walked around for about a month before surgery with a permanently bent leg...

Ow Lindsey. Soulds like that really hurt before surg. I am still having some problems. Its 1 mo after surg. If u read above u can see what they found. I am having trouble walking for too long before its hurts & trouble when I excercise it, It seems it doesnt take much to overdo it. I really thought I would be back to running by now. I guess its just going to take longer. Actually Dr does'nt want me to run @ all but he also thinks I will need a knee replacement. I am hoping to prove him wrong. There are days were are doubt that I will get much better but I try to remember I have come a long way. Hope you are feeling better soon

Thanks Laura! Actually, it wasn't that bad...it just sucked that I walked like a gimp most of the time! It hurts more now that before, but I'm used to it. I was a runner before and I don't run at all anymore. I actually just took a walk for a few miles around my neighborhood a few days ago and my knees hurt for days afterward! I was also told I'd need a knee replacement, but I also have mal-alignment in my other knee, so my knee cap moves around a lot. We'll see...

Hi Lindsey, I am still struggling. You would neve know I ran 5 miles a year ago & worked out with weights. I am making very slow recovery. It doesnt take much to overdo it. I am not giving up on being able to run again. Right now I am just working on walking better & longer. I am still in quite a bit of pain but some days are getting better

Its very shocking to know the damage you have caused, I think treatment in India is very cheap and Good medicines. Have a look at Indian Hospitals online
