I must say I haven't been to a REAL party in about 2 years. Last night I went to a fabulous party, dancing, drinking, music lots of great food. Around 2am there was a toast, I hadn't been drinking because I knew that would make me want to smoke. Well I toasted, and only had a sip but around 10 minutes later I glared at my glass and chugged it. Then I had some more and the next thing I was smoking. The whole party had gathered near the window in the kitchen where the smoking was taking place and there I was with the rest of them. I can only say that I will not give up and will try again,I am determined to quit once and for all. You have all been very supportive, extremely patient and I'm sorry I disappointed you. But one day I will make you all proud and quit for good. Thanks so much for being there,Terry

" awwwwwwww thats a real bummer. We are all only 1 cigarette away from a relapse.
In the early stages of a quit it is wise to stay away from social occassions in fact I didnt go to any for 2 months. I also stopped going into shops that sold cigarettes. If people smoked around me I walked away. I simply said that I had quit and that I needed to move away from the smoking. people seemed to respect that.
You need to identify your triggers. One of them seems to be alcohol , maybe another is social occassions. So in the first few months avoid those triggers.
Dont beat yourself up about smoking the only failure is not trying again
Hugsssssssssss deb "

" hey jazz, if you really didn't want to quit, you wouldn't keep coming back here so pick yourself up and try again. i agree with deb. in the first few weeks, staying away from social situations or places where it could possibly trigger is probably the best thing. we are just too vulnerable in the first weeks of our quit. i even keep a drink and a snack in the car so that when i do go to get gas, i don't have to go in there.
i believe in you. i know you can do it .The key is for you to get in the mindset that you can do it. write down the reasons for you wanting to quit and keep them everywhere for several reminders a day. don't feel guilty, we all have slipped at one time or another. "
