If I'm not going to smoke and I don't drink and I don't do drugs...What's going to be my new additiction? (serious question, stop laughing!)I need something that I can do in the car, at work, at home something that gives me some kind of relief to my aniexty, my need to be alone...I tried chewing on straws but that causes lots of saliva that goes to my stomach and makes me sick to my stomach. I'm up for serious realistic suggestions...I like to ride bikes, but I obviously can't do that every 30 mins, I'm a single mom with 2 kids and a full time job. I need something to do...Thoughts? Anyone do something new inplace of smoking?

" I've chewed enough gum to get TMJ or something!! gum, tootsie pop drops and wintergreen lifesavers have been my crutch for the past 19 days!!! Our smoking cessation instructor gave us a stress stick (kind of like a stress ball but shaped like a straw). I find myself playing with that when i'm on the phone; the phone is a trigger for me. "

" Oh no - I was kidding about the TMJ - guess I better slow down on the gum chewing. I've been buying those plastic containers that have 60 pieces in them. "

" Hi FOJ,
I can totally relate with you. Not single...But a mother of 3. I have tried replacing the cigs with Jolly Ranchers & Cinnamon candies. But to really get my mind into another gear, I find something to clean or maybe come here & write a journal entry. If your like me...I associated EVERYTHING to cigs! I like to take a walk around the block, but honestly...I believe I smoked more on a walk than being at the house. I suppose because the kids wanted to join on their bikes & I would get so paranoid every time a car would come our way! So I kinda stressed more! LOL, So my best suggestion would be to pop in a piece of hard candy & clean 1 area for maybe 15 mins, just to change your train of thought. Good Luck~Misty "
