Chantix Insomnia, Help!
Watch this
View More Posts Ignore
I have ben on Chantix for 15 days and have successfuly quit for 10 days. But the insomnia is torture. I have been getting up after about 5 hours sleep and can't fall back to sleep. This morning I woke up at 4am! I have young children so its not like I can take a nap whenever I want to catch up on sleep.

I take Advil PM which helps but I am building up a tolerance to it.

I was planning on taking the Chantix for 12 weeks as recommended but am thinking about only 6-8. I LOVE not smoking and DO NOT want a death stick. But I am worried about a rebound if I quit the Chantix too early.

Former Chantix users, any advice?

" Did the same think to me. I switched to 1 in the AM like Joanna. I took 2 for about 6 weeks and then 1 in the AM for 2 weeks and then I quit Chantix all together. I needed some more sleep:) I did not rebound to smoking, I'm still quit after 151 days. And I'm just like you, I love not smoking. You have a great attitude ttk and that is very important. I know you can do it.
(hugs:) "

" I only took the morning tablet because of the sleep thing,it made no difference to the effect of the champix. Try just having the one tablet a day,I only took two a day for three days.At about 8 weeks I cut to half a tablet a day and I stopped taking them altogether at the end of last week....no problems so far. Hope this helps,if in doubt have a chat with your doctor, apparently loads of people have successfull quits on a reduced dose of champix. xx "

" stick to it and endure the sleep issues ... staying quit is more important. After I felt that I had my quit under control, I began cutting my Chantix pills in half. Still helped with the quit but reduced the side effects a bit ... I don't recommend this until you have at least 30 days under your belt. "

" I cut back to one a day like Joanna and quit taking it at 5 weeks. GREAT for killing the urge but VERY powerful side effects.

Good for you on your quit! "

" Thanks much, everyone, I went down to one pill/day in am after last Saturday. Have not cheated and sleeping a little better. Still having vivid dreams and insomnia but to a much lesser extent. I thought I was going crazy on 2/day, just couldn't do it.

Will probably keep up 1/day for at least two more weeks. "
