Have you spoke to your doctor about chantix? I know it helps a lot of people. Also,I always thought people were talking rubbish when they advised me to read Allen Carr's book.I mean, how could a few words written on paper make you quit. However, after a few recent failed attempts at qyuitting,I gave it a bash. What a fantastic and inspiring read and the good thing is,you can smoke as you read it! He makes you look at smokig and your "habit" in a totally different way and helps you to see your quit as something positive and not a punishment. Also, dailystrength really does help to keep your hands and mind occupied while you're trying to quit, whether it's to read stuff, vent or ask for advice,it really does help.
I wish you lots of luck with your quit, you can do it because you WANT to x

You may want to try Chantix. I was like you, Wellbutrin kept me awake and made me agressive, the patches put my skin on fire, the gum gave me mouth sores. So I started on Chantix and it worked great for me. The thing is this, you should read the Allen Carr book first. The kind of thinking he promotes in his book is where I was at before I attempted my quit this time. Inform yourself, read everything you can about smoking and quitting. And prepare, decide in advance where not to go to compromise your quit or any situations you know you will have to deal with (like smokers at work). Decide in advance how to deal with the situations in a positive manner.
And with a great attitude to boot you can do it. Do yourself a favor and quit, that is the way I looked at it.

My best quitting method has always been cold turkey. I've never been in favor of any NRT. However each person is different. The most important thing is that you do not give up and find out what works for you.

This may be king of silly, but I ate for about a week straight. I didn't know about Allen Carr's book until after I had quit, but looking back I could have saved myself a few lbs by reading it :) However, I ate constantly... it was kind of crazy, but it worked.

I also highly recommend Allen Carr's book the easy way to quit smoking. ANd, I made a list of all the reason why I wanted to quit and then what I would do when I wanted to smoke. I carried it with me everywhere. Hugs to you ox Tikka

Just a thought. This is what I'm trying right now and have some luck with. I always would have my last smoke before bed, wake in the morning and put that dreaded patch on first thing. The first morning smoke was the one I wanted the most. This time I set my quit date but I smoked my last smoke in the morning when I was ready, left the house to go be around family and get away from my routines. I quit on a day off so I could sleep part of it away. Apon waking I did get some strong urges so I put a patch on long enough to get over it and feel strong again. Once I did, I took it off. That was yesterday and today I'm still smoke free with my patch by my side but not currently in use (fresh patch btw). I'm no expert, I have failed so many times trying to quit. This is just my new stragtegy. In a week or so I'll drop my security blanket of 21mg patches down to 14mg patches. Hopefully I wont need them. Just a thought of how you can go cold turkey with a small safety net for added security. I would rather fall off the wagon onto some patches then back in the gripes of black death.
I had issues with the patches and the gum. I'm poor and no health insurance leads to no chance of getting to use prescripts to quit. If the patch is tolerable for a short amount of time...use it to jump hurdles and then toss it. Make your own plan from what feels right to you. I wish I had the answer! Good luck to you and if you ever need me just shoot me a message.

The hardest step is taking that first plunge - withdrawals are just that- withdrawals- you will live thru it. Not pleasant but you will survive. The hardest part is changing your attitude about smoking. Thats where reading really helps- you have to be prepared for your quit mentally- in the mindset that this is what you want- to be a non-smoker. It takes some pretty harsh self-talk and plugging into Daily Strength helps alot. Having distractions handy for the first week or so helps. But the biggest part is ATTITUDE!!!! If you believe you can do it- and make a promise to not smoke- no matter what- you will succeed. You have to really want it. Then set your quit date and go for it- theres no turning back- no one puff here and there- SMOKING IS NO LONGER AN OPTION. good luck- it can be done.
