It doesn't matter how much I sleep. 4 hours, 6 hours, 8, 10, 12 hours...it's always the same. I'm always SO tired I can barely function. It's having such a huge effect on every part of my life.I'm shaky all the time. I'm dizzy all the time. I don't go out with friends anymore because I'm too tired. I don't have a social life much anymore because I spend my weekends sleeping, and every day after work taking naps. I hate it. I don't know what to do. I'm trying to make a doctor appointment, but my work still hasn't sent me my insurance packets. I don't even know what the doctors can do. Go to one appointment just to make another appointment for a specialist just so they can refer me to someone else so that they can do tests that take two months to get results back just so they can tell me I need to see someone else just for them to tell me nothing is wrong with me.
I don't know if this is sleep apnea or not. I know I need to see a doctor, but do these symptoms sound like sleep apnea? I always sleep through the night, but I'm never rested. I really fear it's going to cause seizures or something similar from lack of sleep. I'd like to think I'm not alone in this. Thanks in advance if you can share a similar story or know what may be going on. Posted on 10/06/09, 02:10 pm |

You might have CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) Check out the CFS site for more symptoms. Not getting refreshing sleep is one and horrible fatigued is another. I had a sleep test and they said I have mild sleep apnea so I use a CPAP but that only helped a little with waking at night 4 or 5 times. I don’t wake as much now but still feel like crap the next day. Good Luck

may well be sleep apnea, do you snore? any gaps with no breathing?
tape record yourself while asleep if not sure, play tape to doc and get a referral to a sleep lab for an overnight sleep study some sufferers still have to diagnose themselves the exhaustion is often confused with depression it may help to sleep in a comfortable chair, try it as it usually reduces the apnea stay with us

Finally got my insurance crap figured out. The doctor is 95% sure it's sleep apnea. Apparently my tonsils are the size of golf balls, and I'm not even sick. He's sending me to a specialist, and I'll probably have to get my tonsils out. I really hope that helps. Wish me luck. I'll update when I know for sure.

Sounds like you have it hard. However, if it is sleep apnea there is great help. these CPAP machines do work wonders. Be happy that you got your insurance, because you will need to go a sleep apnea center, stay over night (usually two nights) to get proper diagnosis and a properly set up machine.
Sleep apnea can be fatal, and the side effect of involuntarilly falling asleep can be fatal, say on the highway. however, it is usually accompanied by snoring, serious, snoring. have someone record you, or film you (say with a cell phone) and look for gasping chocking expressions in your sleep. i never experienced shaking at all, i would be curious to hear if it turns out your symptoms are caused by something else.
