Contact dermatitis due to chin strap and headgear

I am finding a lack of information on this topic. My chinstrap, which I wash as instructed, has given me a rash all over my chin that hydrocorisone cream won't take away. It seems that the headgear straps are also causing a red, bumpy rash behind my ears and along my hairline in the back. This is really frustrating! The rash is only getting worse, and I can't cover it up and treat it at the same time (or, at least I haven't found a way to do that). Anyone have any suggestions?

" If you sew. or know someone who does, you could make a tube of soft cotton fabric (like soft t-shirt or flannel fabric) to cover most of the chin strap. You would want to make it short enough to keep the velcro fasteners at the ends uncovered.

At the areas behind the ears and the hairline, try adding "moleskin" to your straps. You can usually find it in the foot care area of the drugstore or supermarket. I would put the sticky side on the strap so the moleskin would contact the affected areas. "

" all new masks, headgear, airhoses and chinstraps have left over chemicals from being made such as release agent strach, size, etc, also who might have tried using it before you? also the silicone parts are said to outgas for a while

so it all needs to be soaked in warm soapy water, suck the water into air hose, leave then gently wash by hand then rinse in fresh water and dry

if this doesnt fix the chinstrap, make 1 from a roll of elastic or pantyhose, tied together

any chinstrap seldom stops mouth breathing "
