Remedy for removing mask?

We've talked about this a lot: taking off mask in middle of night. I've started doing this. I even turn off the machine most of the time. No memory for doing this. I generally get it back on around 5 am, but I think I'm only getting @ 4 hrs of treatment every night. I've tried all kinds of things to make it harder to get off, thinking I'll wake up. No luck. Has anyone solved this problem?

" Forgot to say---a friend of mine has sleep apnea and she solved HER taking the mask off by using a "ski cap" type cap to sleep in. If that is too heavy for you try something lighter but the point is it has to be something that "blocks" your hands. Also some headgar will slide off on its own without you realizing it..... "

" I'm actually weaning myself off of Ambien because I don't even remember doing it. I'm hoping I'll be able to wake up enough to put it back on. Without fail, it comes off between 1-2 am. "

" Hi everyone i found that i was removing my full face mask every night and would wake up tired like as if i never got any sleep it became so frustrating to the point that i taped over the straps so i could not undo them but the down side was it would take me forever to get the mask off in the morning lol while this whole time this was happening i had just lost my insurance so going to seeing the sleep doctor was out of the question So i had to come up with some reason why i kept removing it. i got online and started to do some research but found nothing and the only thing i could really think of was i was still having apneas and was becoming restless and was unknowingly removing the mask not even a hour into sleep. Since i didn't have insurance at the time i once agian got online and did some more research and found how to raise my own pressure and was surprised to see so many people against raising the prescription with out seeing the doctor, but i found a site that supplied all the information about my CPAP machine and i was able to raise my pressure that was originally at 14 to 15.5 and i have had no issues with removing the mask when i sleep and i feel a whole lot better in the mornings.

I thought i would share my experience with some fellow CPAP users with the same issues that i was experiencing so i would just recommend seeing your sleep doctor and having a sleep study reevaluated to see if you are still having apneas while using the CPAP. It would just be a shame to be forcing your self to keep a mask on that not even helping stop the OSA completely "

" Drool? How disgusting! I never drool but I do have little fairies that leave puddles of dew on my pillow every night. Lots of puddles actually.

This might sound silly but has anyone considered a bell? Like the kind you put on a cat's collar. I suppose it might keep you up if you move around a lot in your sleep. I don't but I've been pretty lucky about not taking my mask off at night and my pressure is cranked up to 15. Maybe cg971 has a good point? I've also found that there is a happy medium between the straps being too loose and too tight. When I get it right I don't have any leaking at all.

I don't have insurance either and I had to see my doctor 3 times at $200 a pop to get my pressure raised. Even when I asked him the first time to crank it up as high as he could so that I wouldn't have to worry about it. It's a total scam! They can be worse than used car salesmen. We aren't all idiots and the ones that are probably need to be weeded out anyways. I'm still trying to find out how to increase my pressure. I can't find instructions on the internet yet. I'm going to increase it just a half step at a time like the doctor would have me do but save a whole lot of money! "

" I had sleep apnea for several years, and I went through several different sleep apnea treatments before I discovered a website that explained what exactly caused sleep apnea. I did more research and found a herbal apnea remedy that helped me breath better at night. This allowed me to sleep better overall, and after only a few nights of using this supplement, I noticed that I was able to concentrate better during the day and I had more energy throughout the day. When I first started using this, I was not sure how well this remedy was going to work, but it proved to work much better than I had imagined it would. My family noticed a bigger difference in my behavior than even I did! I have friends who have sleep apnea as well and I told them about this herbal apnea remedy, and after doing some of thier own research, they also tried this supplement. It worked better than anything else that they had tried. You see, this is a natural apnea remedy that is a combination of herbs that work together to provide comfort and relaxation while sleeping. With this supplement, you will be able to stop using your CPAP. This isn't some kind of "miracle drug" that works overnight. It takes a few nights (or weeks, depending upon how severe your apnea is) to start showing significant results. However, if you consistently take it once a night, it will work.

Overall this works well for me, and I have been taking this supplement for over three months now, and have not had any problems from it. If you are suffering from sleep apnea and would like to sleep better at night, click below for more information about this supplement.

" Hi All, I used a CPAP machine for 7 years and for the past 4 years I was tearing the mask off even tho I went in for sleep studies and they turned my machine up from 12 to 14 then the next time to 16. Last month I went in for another sleep study and I was fitted for a Bi-Pap machine. It is set for 19/14 and am I having problems with it. I am only sleeping for 2-3 hours a night. I wake up with the mask leaking on both sides of my face. I have tried tightening the mask but the only thing that has done is to hurt the bridge of my nose. I scrub my face with soap and water before I go to bed to get all the oils off my face. I clean the mask before I use it. NO DIFFERENCE. I end up falling asleep in the chair in the afternoon watching TV. Good Sleeping to All My Friends Here, Tom "

" I've never took mine off while sleeping. I get about 6-8 hours of sleep with mine. I do however take a sleeping pill. I either take a sleep medicine or a muscle relaxer to stay asleep. "
