" Good luck to you with your treatment. CPAP is excellent treatment but half of us do not tolerate it. Other alternative treatments including oral appliances and surgery are also available.

" i certainly sympathise... what are the reasons why people don't tolerate it? the mask? dry, cold air? alot of problems can be solved (i know not all though)

mine is so quiet - the machine is silent and the air flowing through the mask is kinda soothing. probably i tolerate it well because i was so desperate to get relief - severe apnea of longstanding with many disabling complications. so my tolerance level is quite high. "

" I just got the call today saying that my sleep dr has left the prescription for my machine. I am looking for a place to purchase a machine due to the fact that we no longer have insurance I need something as cheap as possible and I know that CPAP and cheap do not really go together but I thought someone might have an idea.
Thanks
Tina' "

" is there a company near you that rents them out? you could also look on ebay - new items are often on there, and if you got a technician to check a second hand one it may be ok to use.

if your apnea is severe enough, you may be eligible for some assistance? not sure. "

" Got another one! I had a heart attack in August. Heart Dr. determined Icould have Apnea.

Told me that this problem most likely contributed to attack. I have had problems sleeping for years. Have times when I wake up, gasping. I am more tired getting up, then when I went to sleep. Also haveto take naps, like, instantly.

Problem; I am indigent and the County Health services will not approve Sleep Study.

I filed for SSD.

Anybody have any advice. I want to sleep, soooooo bad.

Oh yea, my name is Mark "

" mark you sound like you are high risk for having sleep apnea. i'm not american so i'm not very familiar with 'indigent'... if it helps you any, tell them you have fallen asleep at the wheel... that seems to be a magic ladder to the top of the list where i live.

and surely heart attack is worth even more points!

all the best. "

" BigBear, do you happen to be a Veteran? If so, you might be able to get assistance at the VA clinic in your area.

Otherwise, you might want to check at Catholic Charities or call 211 in your area and see if they have infornmation about any other resources that could help you. "
