I was sent to the sleep center because I was tired all the time. Even though I have fibromyalgia and lupus, I should have at least some energy. Sure enough, I have sleep apnea. The therapist told me that very often goes with fibromyalgia for some reason.
Do you have a cpap yet? That's what they do to treat sleep apnea, get you one of those. They really help. The mask can be a little awkward at first, but you get used to it.

i am newly diagnosed too. have probably had it for 20 years, maybe my whole life. btw the reason it is linked to fibromyalgia is that we dont get the 'phase 4 deep sleep' that comes on after 3-4 hours asleep. that then leads to changes in the pain processing centre of the brain/spinal cord (CNS). i am SO looking forward to getting decent sleep.

I was just Dx as well ... Have the appt. to go to therapist on Tuesday to get 'fitted' for the CPAP machine.
I'm here to learn as much as I can about the disorder. Thanks.

Me too. Had my "settings" study on Sat. Horrible. Fought that pressure all night. Should get my gear next week. I had hoped to use the nasal mask but I did so poorly with it, prob. will have to use the mask.

HI. ASK FOR A C-FLEX MACHINE IF YOU CAN GET ONE. THIS HELPS SO MUCH. WHEN YOU BREATH OUT THE AIR CUTS DOWN SO YOU ARE NOT FIGHTING THE AIR ALL THE TIME. IT HELPS WONDERS IT MADE SUCH A BIG DIFFERANCE FOR ME. NOT GIVING UP ON THE CPAP

i am using an auto-CPAP machine that constantly adjusts to the pressure i need. it records it over a week then the tech looks at the results to find out what pressure i will have. i will then get a normal CPAP machine, i think, and the auto ones are very expensive. good for the initial setting though.
the bi-PAP machines that have a lower pressure for breathing out sound good, but so far i haven't needed one. probably because i am on auto. whatever works, do it i say. it takes a bit of getting used to it but is worth it, so keep trying everyone... all the best.
