I was just curious how many folks out there that have sleep apnea actually also have chronic sinusitis issues in one or both nostrils? I have issues primarily with the right side nostril and have actually had sinus surgery in the past. Curious as to others experience in this area?

" I have chronic issues. my doctor has prescribed Astelin, two puffs AM and two puff PM for me to keep things cleared up. It seems to help me. I use it right before I am putting the mask on to prepare me for my nights sleep. Hope this helps! joAnn "

" My doctor prescribed a steriod nasal spray for me to use which helps cut down on my sinus infections. My sleep doctor told me last week that people who use cpaps get a lot more sinus infections that other folks because of the cold air being pumped in. *shrugs* I'd much rather use my cpap and have the sinus infections. " All good comments thanks. I am still attempting to use the CPAP, sometimes I make it through the night other times it comes off halfway thru the night. I still have not figured out which is the correct humidity setting for me... to much humidity or too little humidity promotes "stuffiness"; I find that when my nose is "stuffy" (I am a nose breather) that I end up "gasping" for air even with the CPAP, I usually wake with alot of "gas." Does anyone else experience this?

Cheers

" I recently had to have sinus surgery due to a narrow right sinus passage. I use Astelin in the AM and PM and this seems to keep me open for the night to use of my CPAP "

" What kind of sinus surgery Dark? I am considering surgery for right nasal collapse and deviated septum. My sleep Dr insists I have it done and I can probably lower my settings by half. I see an Ent Dr Group at UCSF and they are the best I am told. "
