CPAP Machine and mask

I just started my cpap treatment last night. How do i know that it is working? I seemed to sleep most tof the night ok. But I never knew I wasnt before except that I have a bad back and it would wake me up. My sleep study confirmed sleep apnea/hypopnea. I was always tired and thought it was my fibromyalgia and my "fibro fog" was affecting my memory etc...

So I woke up ths morning. Still woke up somewhat groggy but it didnt take me as long to come to and get moving a bit.

I dont feel the air entering my nose. I have a full face mask as the nose ones make me panic terribly. When I would open my mouth my cheeck would puff out so I assume it is working?

i did wake up with a welt on the bridge of my nose and a sore on the side of my mouth. I increased the humidifyer during the night as I am a mouth breather and found my mouth to be extremely dry.

My daughter said that I still snored in the night?? I thought this was supposed to stop my snoring.

Should I call the place I got it from or wait and see what happens.

" Hi Cj, I am new to the CPAP as well but I saw your post and wanted to send you a message to say hang in there. I also wear the mask because I am a mouth breather. I got my CPAP about 2 weeks ago and my husband says I still snore as well, but it doesnt bother him because the mask quiets it,lol. I also think that if you are waking up with bruises you might need to adjust your mask or ask your clinician to adjust it for you. It is my understanding that the mask should not leave deap impressions and definately not bruising or soreness. I also had to turn up my humidifyer because my mouth was dry. The first night I turned it up I kept hearing this clicking noice. Well eventually in the night the clicking got louder and more frequent. I had the darn thing too high and water was backing up in the hose so I had to get up and clean it out. So be careful of that too. Also I wasnt sleeping except for a couple hours(if lucky)before CPAP and finally the last 2 nights I have slept all night and woke up feeling awake. This took a few weeks but it has finally happened. I hope this helps you a bit, I just wanted to let you know how it has been for me so you can see that you arent alone and you will get sleep if you just hang in there and get that mask adjusted or maybe get a different one that suits you better. Good luck to you and please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. Lots of gentle hugs and blessings,Christine "
