Advice:
Should I ask for Ambien?

I took my 2nd sleep study with the cpap. It was horrible. I could not sleep at all. I kept tossing and turning and fighting with the stupid cpap mask all night long. Anyway, I havent gotten the results back yet, but in the meantime, I've been taking my husband's Ambien CR. It seems like I'm actually sleeping through the whole night, not like the usual tossing and turning that I go through every night. Do you think I should ask my doctor for a script of Ambien? It does make me feel a lil groggy during the day, but no worse than I normally do. I'm so exhausted, I just dont know what to do anymore. I feel like I cant fight this tiredness anymore, like I'm giving into it because I just dont have the strength to fight it anymore.

" I have been lurking here a long time... not ready i guess to share my experience with sleep apnea... but when i saw your message... it made me want to speak...

Ambien CR is a crazy drug... it may help you get to sleep... but it has some serious side effects... such as sleep walking... sleep eating... and sleep driving... also it can cause you to have horrific hallucinations...

and it is a class #1 narcotic.. I never found that sleeping aids really worked for me... learning to relax helps... deep breathing also helps...

" Hi there. When I had my sleep study, I had been taking Ambien Cr. The sleep study people asked me to try to go without it for the study. So I did.

I do take Ambien CR occasionally. Usually when I have to work the next day. I haven't had any of the awful scary side effects, thankfully. Just a decent night's sleep.

Good luck to you. "

" Ambien no longer works for me; I wake in the middle of the night and can not fall back a sleep. It used to work like charm. I asked my doc for a script for the Ambien CR but my insurance won't cover it.

I just try to relax as much as I can before bed. I sometimes take melatonin and that seems to help a little more.

Good luck to you "

" When I stated on my cpap machine I could not sleep either but then the doc gave me Ambien CR. It really helps we fall asleep well with none of the crazy side effect during the night. However even when I sleep 7-8 hours I still feel groggy and sleepy in the morning. I leave the bed and sit on the couch to watch TV and I fall back asleep again. Lots of great things came from my apnea machine in the past 3 months since I have been using it my Blood pressure has lowered, No migraines anymore and weight loss of about 14 pounds with no diet. Maybe you should give it a try it seems like there are alot of different results. For me the sleepiness is not much compared to all the great out comes from the apnea and Ambien. "
