Advice:
Why do I wake up dizzy??
Watch this
View More Posts Ignore
Not last night but the 2 nights before I woke up from a deep sleep completely dizzy and feeling like I was going to pass out. I shook my head a few times to make the feeling go away. I have a problem with anxiety so after that I was afraid to go back to sleep. Eventually I got so tired I fell asleep naturally. I do take medication for the heart (for 4+ plus years, so I know it's not the meds, totally used to it) and I've read that it could be a sign of a stroke or heart attack. Is this true? Or is it sleep apnea??

" are you on CPAP? I had some problems with dizziness, and ringing in my ears, over the winter. I began to wonder if it was due to the cpap pressure affecting my ears, but either it mostly went away or I got used to it. "

" No I am on Atenolol for Angina. I was diagnosed 5 years ago and have been on that since. So I know it's not the meds. I didn't have any of the pressure in my ears. Just the dizzyness and feeling like I was going to pass out. "

" Have you had a sleep study done? Do you currently have a CPAP? If not, you might want to look into it.

Or, you could be like me and have dizziness/lightheadness on a regular basis. I have had numerous tests done, seen a cardiologist and neurologist and the diagnosis was "non-specific dysfunction of the inner ear."

Because I was still having problems, I went to an ENT on my own who wanted my tested for Meneire's Disease, but the only doctor who participates with my insurance I disliked from the moment I met her. Plus, I don't get spinning, I just have an off-balance, lightheaded feeling. Saw a different neurologist at the recommendation of the ENT and he suggested sleep apnea. Had the study done, and I do have mild sleep apnea. I have had my CPAP since October of last year, and I do sleep better (and hubby likes that I don't snore anymore), but still have the other issues.

Your best bet is to make an appt. with your doctor and discuss this with him/her to see if they have any suggestions. Be prepared for lots of blood work and other tests and referrals to specialists.

Good Luck! "

" Thanks Junebug for your input! I haven't had it happen since those two nights last week and now the last 2 days I have had mild ear aches when waking up in the mornings. So maybe it had something to do with that. An appt with my cardiologist is coming up soon, so if it doesn't happen between now and then I am just going to wait it out.

What is a CPAP?? "
