Just sending an update this time.
I thought since I did not hear from my Dr. quickly that I was off the hook this time. Maybe I have just been in denial though. As I sat in the Atlanta airport today waiting to catch my flight to Michigan the Dr.s office called. GREAT! My surgery is scheduled for next Thursay. This is the second time on my left hand. The first time was squamous cell on my pointer finger. It was ugly and ended with a large graft. Then opened once again to remove an abcess from a stitch. Now the newest problem is on the back of my hand. I had a dark spot that seemed to be under my skin. I didn't think much of it since my other cancers seem to be growths. I went a little over a week ago for my routine checkup and the Dr. said, "Now that's something we need to look at further." Thus a biopsy that day. To those of you that have had this stuff recurring...... Do you ever get used to it? I missed my connecting flight in Atlanta and now am waiting and waiting for another plane. I've been sick every since I talked to the Dr.s office. Thanks to all that have read this note and thanks for the support all of you have given me. Posted on 10/27/09, 03:10 pm |

I am sorry to hear this. I am new to this board but I will say this is the place to vent the feelings and everyone totally understands. Hang in there.

I am trying to deal with new skin cancers better, but it is hard to get used to.
What kind of skin cancer did they find on your hand? Did you have your procedure yet? I hope things went well with your procedure.. Please let us know. Hugs!!!! Debbie

I don't think it would be easy to get used to skin cancer. I have only had one BCC so far, but it was the size of a dime on my nose. I know I will probably have more as I get older. My younger sis has already had 3, all on her face. Best wishes!
