BCC and scared

I got a tiny little mole removed a week ago. Yesterday I found out that it was a basal cell carcanoma. It was "fully removed," slow growing, and surface. There is now a tiny little mark next to my eye (had 4 stitches removed) that should heal just fine.
The DR tells me to watch that spot, that it should be right and truly gone, and that I just need to get checked by my dermatologist yearly. Monday I have a pre scheduled appt with a dermatologist in our medical group and will ask her all about it.
I've researched and it looks like they are very common, rarely ever mastasticize, etc. Still I'm terrified. Cancer?
I'm 42. I have three young children. Ugh.

" One can tell many times a doctor that there is a change in ones body, and some ignore it.
I just saw a patient that he was cleaning inside his ear, and some blood come in the Q tip, he called his doctor, he looked inside and the same day sent him to an OTO, to make it short, he had advance BCC ithat started in the canal of his ear, it went down to his mandibule.
He had mayor surgery and recostruction, he has lost his hearing in that side, a big lesson for me and others, to take BCC as what it is a cancer.
There were no syntoms. "

" Thanks. With that in mind today I told my GP I'd like a small lump under my arm removed. I'd had an ultrasound and mamogram on it 2x and each time the Drs said it was nothing. Today I said are you 100% sure its nothing? She said she's not worried, it shouldnt be anything, etc. I don't like "shouldnt's" anymore and am getting it removed. "

" If it was removed, ask the doctor for a copy of the report from the lab, this way you can know what kind it was.
I get all my reports and have my own medical chart at home, this way I make sure to give a copy to each of my doctors.
One has to look after # 1, and for me, it is me. "

" I have a copy of the report. The thing I got removed was a surface, pigmented, slow growing, BCC. It was totally cut out, clear margins.
The thing under my arm is internal. I'll get a copy of that too! "

" There is no way they can be 100% sure, when I had an excisional biopsy for breast cancer, that by the way I did not have a lump and my mamogram and ultrasound did not show anything, I was told there are clean margins, no need for anything else.
I wanted a masectomy, finally it was agreed, and during surgery a tumor was found, invasive that for some reason did not show in any tests ; doctors can not guarantee a cure, hope for the best, it is up to us to go to follow visits, read and be informed, ask questions, and change a doctor ot ask for a second opinion. "

" deraming ...mads is ever the eternal optimist .
How did you know that something was wrong after the tests showed that they had got a clear margin ? Did you have a battle to have them do a masectomy ? Sorry to be nosey x "

" had my lump removed. It took a while. The little bugger kept rolling away from the DR once the local was injected. But after 35 ms she thinks she got it. its being sent off to biopsy. I hope to have hte results tomorrow and pray they are negative for anything nasty. "
