I have been trying to find out if the fat accumilation from steroids like the Buffalo Hump, (lovely), are permenant. When you stop the steroids does it diminish? Or the Moon Face. Does it go away? Also does anyone feel like they have more Belly Fat? I don't find any comment in my drug books about this stuff.

Steroids the sleaziest of drugs. You have to join to read the full article. It does talk about what you asked.

I tried to stay off of steriods because it makes the bones thin and brittle. Last thing I want with fibromyalgia is broken bones. But there are times when the steriod shots are just a must have.
Let me know what you find out about belly fat and how to get rid of it.

Still no info as to wether this stuff is permenant or not. I did read the sleaziest of drugs and got that nightmare report, but it still does not answer the question about wether this will resolve when we stop or go to lower doses. Right now I have to take them. I hate it too.

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/s... "Make healthy choices during therapy. When you're on corticosteroid medications for a prolonged period, talk to your doctor about ways to minimize side effects. You may need to reduce the number of calories you eat or increase your physical activity to prevent weight gain. Exercise can help reduce muscle weakness and osteoporosis risks. And taking calcium and vitamin D supplements and prescription bisphosphonates, such as alendronate (Fosamax) or risedronate (Actonel), can minimize bone thinning due to corticosteroids."

Yes, I agree with you on prevention. And thanks! I have been on steroids a very short time compared to mant folks and I am noticing fat accumilation on back belly and sometimes face is puffy but that comes and goes.
