So, it doesn't seem like there's much activity on through this group but I thought I'd try to see if anyone is out there. Anyone have any experience with IGF-1? Hope to hear from some of you!

" Hello! Yes, it appears this site is kind of lonely. I check in though a couple times a week. I have not heard of IGF-1. What is it? "

" Well here's a little summary: Insulin-like Growth Factor Deficiency, or IGFD, is a term that
describes lower levels in the body of IGF-1, a naturally occurring hormone
that plays the central role in human growth.
In some children, despite ample or even higher amounts of growth hormone,
IGF-1 levels still remain low and growth does not occur as it should.
This condition is called severe primary IGF-1 deficiency (Primary IGFD).

Thanks for checking in and asking. We are about to start on injections of IGF-1 with our son. I'm a little nervous but know that is to be expected, we will be giving to injections every day, one morning and one evening with meals. The most common side effect is low blood sugar so that must be monitored initially and then always be aware of that possibility. Hope to chat with you again sometime! "

" Wow, it's great to know medical technology is advancing enough to help some of us reach our full height potential. My mom took me to specialists all over just to make sure there wasn't something that could be done. She didn't want to miss an opportunity before I stopped growing. Anyway, that was over 30 years ago & nothing could be done & I'm still short! I've come to accept my petitness as an asset, but it took a long time. I wish the best for your son & please keep me informed on how it's working! Amy "
