Has anyone had a difficult time being taken seriously because of your short height? For example on the job, at school, etc. I have always had people crack jokes throughout my life and its one thing if its someone I know and a friend, but I often have strangers say remarks to me. I am also not taken seriously at work even though i work just as hard, if not harder than my co-workers..many of them being big buff males (I work in EMS). I am comfortable with my height and enjoy being shorter than average, but thats often being thrown back in my face.

Sometimes people don't take my threats seriously.Like I'll get hit on and they think cause I'm short I won't swing out of fear for being the smaller one...I always surprise them when I hit them in the face :D

I know exactly what you mean! I guess you just have to keep working your hardest and try to make yourself heard. I know some people compensate by being loud and annoying (not me.. not my personality). One good thing, I work at a hospital with some little shrunken old ladies and one of them is shorter than me!
Anyone else get annoyed with those evil pats on the head?

Pats on the head UGH!! Yes I hate those. But what I hate more...being everyones "leaning post"!! Ahhh...drives me bonkers! I'm sick of being called an "Umpa Lumpa". I suppose i'm used to it after this long...but it still gets to me every now and then.

I hate the pat on the heads too!!! so annoying! I always get, "your the perfect height for an arm rest." I'm just like yea thats great but my head isnt an arm rest..I am glad to know there are other people who deal with this issue also.

being taken serious is a joke for me..i am constantly made fun at work..short jokes all day and of course i laugh at it because i dont want them to know that it bothers me..but the hardest thing for me to deal with is trying to get women to notice me over all the other guys, being short and shy does not help with the ladies

I'm not only short, I just gained weight 3 years ago, I never was over 100lbs till now. now I'm still 5; 2" but 140 lbs, my new wife gained me weight, I'm 40 yrs old now

I never have gotten taken seriously unless I got violent, sometimes it took my gun to be heard, but mostly I figured no one's going to listen so I'll make people laugh works great. I had a whole restaraunt laughin last night

I work in a factory and I get called "Little Man" by a few people there. Either that or "Little Jeff". It does bother me somwhat but I don't let the people I work with know that.

I am often mistaken for my husband's SISTER... not only am I short, but I look EXTREMELY young too (I probably look like I am about 12 years old)... it sucks!!!

I've had people say to me,"Wow, you're only 5 feet tall?" It's reeeaaalllyyyy annoying!!!!!
