Hi!

I'm 55 and have 29 years of sobriety from alcohol. I never worked a program and have been shopping and eating compulsively. I have been in therapy for about eight months, but am still struggling with my shopping.

I am married and my husband supports us. The shopping is a big issue between us, and although my husband makes enough money so that my shopping doesn't jeopardize our security, it is still money spent on things we don't need.

I am in the middle of an intense desire to shop. I have made several online purchases in the past few days and have a physical craving to go out shopping and BINGE right now. I don't WANT to stop at this point, but I NEED to, so I've found this group and I look forward to any help or advice you can give.

I am aware of a lot of the reasons I shop, but I am really not resisting the behavior right now, which is very disturbing to me.
I'm off to my therapy appointment this afternoon.

Take care,
Darcysfolly.

" Thanks, Filip. It's certainly a struggle. I think I'm going to try Debtor's Anonymous. Anyone here have any experience with them?

" I know how you feel. I get the computer running and I want to shop. I have several games that I downloaded thinking that would give me something to do other than shop.

Now I'm addicted to these games. I have CFS so I don't have the energy to do much. My computer is my world. My family is spread all over the Eastern part of the country. I have no friends because I was sick when we moved here. I did make one friend but she's dying of brain cancer. She's almost completely deaf so we've never been able to talk on the phone. Now she can't email more than once in a while.
She can't drive and going out is a challenge for her. My husband is busy working and we don't have much in common. Our son lives with us but he's busy too and we don't have much in common.
I was addicted to Friends for a long time and now it's Frasier. I need help. "
