This may sound really hokey, but someone told me to try this topical ointment after 3 months on 3 grams a day of Valtrex, and the shingles still active, to say nothing of the itching and pain. I started two weeks ago, and finally was able to sleep through the night for about 4 days and cut down to a maintenance dose of 500 mg.
Then I went out of town for a week, and didn't take the castor oil with me, and 3 days later I was up all night with ice pack, crying and itching - a bunch of new spots. Maybe it is coincidence or random chance, I don't know. I just know I tried so many other different topical creams, and like the dermatologist said, you have to attack it from the inside out. Most of the creams made it worse, but this silly castor oil just soothed it, and last night I didn't have a problem. It can't be psychosomatic, because I thought everything else would work too, and nothing else helped. if anyone else tries it, post here if it works, or doesn't! Posted on 10/31/09, 08:10 pm |
