My husband had shingles and the rash went completely away. He just has some scaring. He has had pain off and on since the rash started but it has gotten alot worse. He is just in terrible pain all over and I just don't know what to do. He also has horrible itching that is driving him crazy. We are going to the ER in a little bit but I just wanted to know if there is anything I can do to help him.

I am sorry to say but there really isn't a lot you can do for him except maybe keep them clean if he can't reach them. Everything that I used needed a prescription - i.e anti-viral medication (the sooner the better), Lidoderm patches, Neurontin and narcotics. Even strong narcotics will not get rid of the pain but it may at least make him more comfortable.
