How Long?

How long as the average person had shingles here? How long undiagnosed, and how long on meds before you got control of an active outbreak?

I am autoimmune compromised because of RA and meds, and my rheumie thinks I need to go off methx and half my Kineret so my autoimmune system has a chance to recover. Any experience with this situation, comments, helpful suggestions?

" I HAVE HAD THIS MESS 4 THREE WEEKS. AND THE BLISSTERS ARE ALL BUT GONE, BUT THE PAIN IS STILL WITH ME. AT TIMES IT IS PRETTY BAD BUT, I CHOOSE NOT TO TAKE THE MEDS BECAUSE OF SO MANY SIDE EFFECTS. I FOUND THAT THERE IS A FEW NAT. STUFF TO TAKE SO THAT IS WHAT I HAVE BEEN DOING. SO FAR SO GOOD. IF IT HAD NOT BEEN FOR GOD AND MY FRIENDS HERE AT DS I WOULD NOT HAVE HAD THE ENERGY TO COPE WITH THIS MESS. HANG IN THERE HELP IS ON THE WAY. PRAYING FOR YOU. "

" I have been 8 weeks with repeated flares, on Valtrex for the 4th round, having to decrease my RA meds because of their auto-immune suppressant qualities.

So my big question, is what natural meds are you on? I am taking Lysine as a supplement, but it isn't doing any good. Thanks in advance "

" I was diagnosed the same day the blisters appeared about 4 weeks ago. Now the spots are all but gone and the pain is also just about nonexistant. They say you have the best chance if you get the antivrals within 72 hours of the outbreak. "

" I guess 6 weeks from a misdiagnosis by my doc, because I also had a yeast skin infection was too late. I have been 6 weeks on the Valtrex, and the spots are slowly subsiding, but the itching still happens at night or when I am warm. I got off the mthx this week, so maybe my immune system will start fighting with the help of the anti-viral. Just too many diseases intermingling. No more surgery. "
