PHN affecting my life

I have been battling PHN for 4 months and I am so tired. I am on the verge of losing my job. I am married and have 2 toddlers. I am currently taking lyrica, pain meds and just started thoracic injections. I just get discouraged that I will have this forever. I am still young. I don't know how to handle with the stress of being ill, and I know worrying about it only makes it worse.

How do you handle this? I feel that I can't talk to friends because I feel no one understands what I am going through.

" To all you ladies all of our stories are simular in so many ways. The one things I notices besides the pain is that no one seem to understand when we states how crucial the pain is.I don't know if people don't believe you.Are if people thinks you are crazy. Anyway I think in most cases if people don't see a broken arm, leg, or something its beyound there understanding.Inwhich makes me feel worse. So, I just don't say anything about how I'm really feeling. "

" Thank you Linda. That is so true, people don't understand. They can't tell from the outside that we are suffering in the inside. "

" i wish i could give you some good news, however my phn has lasted 18 months and nothing i take helps. i stopped taking oxycontin because of the addiction, i am on gabapentin and cymbalta with no relief. i have to take ambien to go to sleep. the pain on my side is unrelenting, like something within clawing to get out. i look terrible as i have lost weight and considering going on disability because i cannot work as i did before. sorry this is so negative but i think depression is kicking in.
