This is now my 17th week and I am still in terrible pain. My scalp area burns so much and the crazy nerves just do figure 8s up and down my temple. I am so discouraged that this will go on forever.

I now have the wacky weed to keep me a little more comfortable. but I cannot smoke it all day long. I still have a year to go before retirement.

I know you dear people have told me that in time I will be better w/o horrible pain. I need a pep talk again. Thanks

" Where you have pain going active, increasing, spiking, stabbing, or whatever the sensation is, you need to relax your instinct to tense your muscles.

With shingles healing, the pain is different for what's happening, and it becomes easier to find what works to reduce the pain when you know which part of the pain is acting leading position.

I hope this helps. Capasin cream is my best buddy on my jawline, and a comb through my hair helps reduce the sensation in my scalp.

It will get better, it will.

Best wishes. "

" I didn't use the capisin cream on my scalp, just on the neck, and the jawline. I use the comb to massage the scalp through the itching. "

" ok here is my pep talk for you... just my opinion but smoking marjiuana can have side affects too. it alters your brain cells so you have to make sure you can drive safely etc. i haven't heard of anyone jumping into this unless they have had years and years of pain and nothing has worked how did you come to this treatment?. are you under a neurologists care? has your dr. put you on an anti convulsant? first line treatment is medication like tegretol or neurotin and a pain reliever and cymbalta. my dr even gave me some steroids to help with inflammation. so from what you are saying i don't think you are on enough medication.
five years ago i had shingles and bells palsy at the same time or ramsey hunt syndrome on right side of face. i have atypical trigeminal neuralgia on left side of my face (whole other story)
so i do know that you still have time to heal and yes my pain was nutso like this for months after the ramsey hunt syndrome, this takes a really long time to calm down, nerves while healing heal only a ml at a time. go to neuro and let him get you on known meds that all of us are treated with and order striking back book about facial pain sooo helpful so you know what triggers it and stress is a big one. this is a process trying to find what works for each of us so do one day at a time
blessings for pain free days for you.

" Thanks Jady,
Tried and am on most meds stated. I am okay with mellowing out. Those pharmaceuticals do not mellow a person out. If you are in our dessicating age group ( baby boomers), mellowing out has the nostalgia effect of the good old days and a real good buzz.effect.. .
Of course I do not drive while mellowing out. I feel much better with my help. Also, it has been medically approved for me. Thanks "

" I thought a shingles member recently said that the odds were in my favor that I would heal--meaning pain free--and that in one years time --96 per cent recover. Who ever sid that please let me hear it again--because now I am getting depressed when I hear I am part of crew that does not heasl FOREVER....I cannot let mywelf think that way. My eye was not infected AT ALL and looks as green and pretty as ever. The hospital took urgent measure asap and the optha hovered over me in the beginning of 8 days in a private room--infectious unit. all I need to know is that I can get a haircut w/o running out into the street and screamking my head off w/pain. I cannot let anyone near my scalp for now. "
