What is the best and quickest way to get over this

Officially diagnosed yesterday. Although the rash is sore, the pain is not bad, but I am surprised at how tired I am. I am 61 and a 1st grade teacher which takes a lot of energy. I'm taking the rest of this week off unless I get to feeling more normal. My rash started Sunday and I am on the aciclovir. The (walk in) doctor I saw basically dismissed my symptoms, didn't think rest would make any difference. I've also had some stomach distress. Am I better off to rest, or should I force myself to go to work. Also any idea when I might get energy back? Feel quite alone in this weird thing, and would appreciate any advice, tips, comments.

" as a first-timer myself I was able to work after only two days off. The Lortabs and Lyrica helped with the pain and sleep. I discovered that taking a long walk helped with the pain and fatigue. I am 55, male and got lotsa advise from many on-line discussion groups. Be careful as only your physician SHOULD be treating you. If he/she is "dismissive" - then get another doctor!! "
