It seems to me that my very high standards for morals and ethics once again made someone run for the door. I know I'm right to tell people I have herpes if we are considering a sexual relationship but to be honest I swear sometimes I feel like saying NOTHING. I'm a smart, cool chick who knows in her heart that I am worth dating but it seems there is still so much bullshit stigma attached to my inconvenient skin condition.. So, I want you all to know I will continue to do the right thing but it still hurts my heart when someone rejects me because of it. For the record i have a 10 year old boy that have scared men away too.... I suppose I should be grateful for their retreat. Acceptance would be nice though

Love,
S

" well, i feel for you. i am new to this group or just checking it out.

however, i have a psych disorder called ocd. it is now moderate but was extreme and then severe. i have had many women get very interested in me UNTIL i tell them about my mental disorder. then, most run for the hills. the stigma associated with mental illness, psych disorders and personality disorders is still amazing.

i had an upper middle class upbringing, am college educated and a good person. that does not seem to matter. in my late teens and 20's, i chose not to tell any female about my health issue and did quite well with dating. but, at my age, i want to be accepted for me, good and negative. so, i can relate to your dilemna to some degree.

as far as your son is concerned, that is crazy for men to reject you because you are a single mom. i have looked at many online dating sites and 99% of women over the age of 35 are going to have kids. i would expect a 40= yr old female to have kids. those men u r meeting seem very shallow and superficial when it comes to your being a mom.

if i met a special female and she fully explained the risks concerned with being intimate as well as researching it myself, i would definitely date her if i felt that kissing was of no risk and using a condom was 99% safe.

Good luck to you in finding a mate. "
