Hi,
i was diagnosed with MRSA from a culture of some ant bite looking marks and it seems to always flare up in different locations but looks similar to what i had cultured. I get several small red bite looking bumps anywhere in my groin area and in inner buttocks. They itch and i try not to bother them to make them go away sooner. My inner buttocks is always itchy and sometimes feels like something on my skin. could this be parasites or some kind of std? Posted on 05/12/08, 09:05 pm |

What you have described is certainly consistent with a superficial folliculitis problem, most often caused by staph germs getting down into the hair follicles. A lot of people become "staph carriers", and harbor the germs in their nostrils, so that the skin needs to be treated with antibiotics, as well as the nasal chambers, too.

hi... well this staph never goes away. It always reoccurs at different times when i cant really pin point what is triggering it. I have taken antibiotics but doesnt seem to help any. STill takes the same length of time to go away.. I notice if i have sex multiple times in a day that it definetely aggravates this problem and makes in reoccur...

it is possible, then, assuming that it is a staph folliculitis, that the antibiotic that is being used is the wrong one. A culture would help solve that problem.

Lot's of people come into our lab with what they think are spider/ant bites and are Staph infections. If you truly have MRSA it is most likely community acquired unless you have been in a hospital lately. It is not parasites and it is not STD's but you may infect others. If you were told it was MRSA you must have been offered a course of treatment. Yes?
