I was diagnosed today with genital herpes. I was at first really upset! But then I got some information from my doctor and from online and didn't realize how common it is. If anyone has it, I would like to hear from you as far as treatments, how you feel/felt when you were diagnosed, how you're coping, etc. Thanks for listening!

" I have HSV1 genitally. Never in a million years would I think it would happen to me. I found a bump down there one day that looked like a pimple and freaked out that it was herpes after it didn't go away. I got tested for EVERYTHING.....I finally became suspicious that I had warts. Which I did. I was pretty bummed about that but knew I could get rid of them if I took care of myself. Well one day I get a call saying I was positve for HSV. Like what? I have never had an outbreak and once I knew I had warts I was over the idea of having herpes. I thought I might just be a carrier since I never had a cold sore. Anyway, in the midst of painful wart removal I had an outbreak.I was devastated and started bawling in the dr.'s office. It hurt sooooo bad. Well they say your first outbreak is always the worst and it really was. Well I did some homework and found Resolve which is a detox which supposedly cures you after 48 days and a 90 day waiting period......well needless to say on my 90th DAY of all days I got an outbreak. I was pissed. I demanded my money back. They said that it can take up to 18 months to be cured and tests won't tell you that you are, you just know....if that's not a load of crap I don't know what is. They just didn't want to give me my $300 back. The good thing about resolve is that it really did detox my body. I was sicker than crap the whole time but I felt soooo much better after I was done. But even a year later I still struggle with warts. Then again I also recently found out I have a thyroid problem from an old neck injury. Anyway, I kind of put my herpes on the back burner once I found out that they don't even consider HSV1 an STD because tons of people get cold sores...weird huh....anyway, so I learned from a hub that taking monolaurin helps remove the coating around your cells so your immune system can kill the virus. Assuming your immune system works, which mine didn't. But I'm due for an outbreak next month so we will see if it works. Also changing your diet and avoiding foods high in arginine helps prevent outbreaks. (strawberries, nuts, chocolate, sugary foods) if I eat a lot of strawberries I start to feel crappy, but if you taking L-Lysine daily before meals it absorbs the arginine- you can also use high doses of it if you do get an out break. My advice, don't rely on western medicine to cure you, use all natural supplements and be as healthy as you can be- that's the answer. I can live with knowing I have it in my body as long as I don't have to live with the physical affects of it. Now if I can only get rid of these warts. Been using Wartrol, hope it does the trick. Also having some one who really supports you and loves you for you is a huge weight off your shoulders. Hope it works for you. Good luck "
