I was told I had mild dysplasia about 3 years ago, possibly caused by HPV. All my colpos come back negative while my paps seem to always come back abnormal. Anyway, I am really lost, and I am really embarassed to ask my doctor. Maybe someone here can answer this for me:
I do not have genital warts, I know this much is true. BUT, say I have sex with my husband and then I give him oral sex all in the same session, can I get warts on my mouth? Can HPV be transmitted from genitals to mouth and become HSV or something like that? I am so lost... Posted on 08/15/09, 10:08 pm |

The best person to talk to would be your physician or a dentist. It's easier said than done but try not to be embarrassed, that's what they do, they're used to hearing a whole lot of worse things I'm sure. :) STD's are incredibly contagious as I'm sure you know. However I doubt that if you give oral in the same session as intercourse you will transfer anything to your mouth. UNLESS he has herpes or warts and is having an outbreak or has open sores. I actually got genital herpes from my boyfriend at the time from oral sex...He had a cold sore and I ended up with the really lousy end of the deal :( He doesn't have genital herpes. Good luck to you, I hope maybe I helped a little :)

HPV and HSV are two completely different viruses....Sounds like you have high risk HPV which left untreated can become cancerous....My dr. told me high risk HPV doesn't really effect men because they have no place for abnormal cells to grow like we do on our cervixes. However they can give it to us....HPV will NOT turn into herpes. I have HSV 1 which is the cold sores virus but I have it genitally from some one who got cold sores then gave me oral. It might be possible to develop warts on your face if you had warts but I'm pretty sure if you have high risk it's not going to develop on your face. I know this doesn't sound fun but use a condom during intercourse and then take if off for oral or vice versa if you are concerned...85% of high risk cases clear on their own but it takes a little while....I tested abnormal in february and was a grade lower in july....hopefully by november I'll be normal again. just keep your immune system up, get plenty of sleep, drink plenty of water......I don't think you have anything to worry about...take it from me...I feel like I have everything and all three things are completely different..you'll be fine

SickNtired is right about HPV and HSV being different. You need to protect yourself with safe sex practices and immunizations. It's vitally immportant to speak with your Doctor or a Health Department Nurse(if you want to be unonomise) I was exposed to HSV 1 three years ago. The woman I slept with either did not know or chose to not say anything I informed her when the first signs appeared. If your not sure speak with your Physican and request a full STD lab study or atleast for what you suspect.
