Here's the story. Around the end of April I had a one night fling with someone I'd known for a while. Fast forward to May 17, I'd been dating someone for a couple weeks. We became intimate. Fast forward a couple weeks. I get what I think is a yeast infection. I bought Monistat 1 time treatment. It appeared to go away. A couple weeks later I get another "yeast infection". Went to the doctor. She gave me a 7 day treatment and sent me home. After the 7 days it appeared to go away again. Well, yesterday I noticed white discharge near the opening of my vagina and it seems like the start of another "yeast infection". The reason I started off my story with the "fling" in April is because a month ago I heard a rumor that he had genital herpes. Of course it could just be heresay... however the 3 incidents of "yeast infections" that I've just told you about are very out of character for my body. This has never happened to me before. My doctor told me if I didnt have blisters by now that I dont have herpes and I'm fine. However I know very well that many ppl can have it and not know bc their symptoms are so mild. Has anyone else gone through this? Advice? I have another appointment with the same doctor. and another appointment with a different doctor but its not till OCTOBER! Im so scared and confused.

" Go to a walk in clinic in the meantime! I was diagnosed with herpes type 1 by my doctor back in 04 and was told that this was the lesser of the nasty disease. It either shows up once for the initial break out and never again, or comes out once a year. Now, it's 2009 I have a beautiful daughter and have never had a breakout since! And to make things even more strange, when I went through all the tests when I was pregnant, the herpes did not show! So I iether never had them or some how I fought it off. Now what you describe the "white discharge coming from your vagina" that sounds like gonorrhea. When I first noticed something wasn't right, I had the itching burning sores on the lips of my vagina. I googled it and came up with Herpes. My heart broke. The couple of days that it took to get into the Doc, I had alot! When he went in for the swab, he said I was loaded! Gonorrhea, clymitia, the sore were starting to go away at that point but were inside me as well. I was devestated and ended up taking 5 pills which cost over 50 bucks, that the Doc said would cover everything but the virus! (herpes) So I suggest you go to the walk in, tell them you want to be swabbed for a possible std. Don't take anything other then yes for an answer. This is a major health concern and needs to be addressed. Let me know how it went. I'm glad I can help if I did, don't mean to scare you with all that it might be, but defenatly go to the walk in! :) "

" It's crazy, but a walk in really is the best place to go for this. My regular ObGyn (I was pregnant when I had my first outbreaks) totally missed it and avoided doing a full battary of tests. "

" I've never heard of discharge with genital herpes, it's generally just the sores during an outbreak, and I promise you, you will know! It's horrible, it's painful, it wears you down. I've heard more often then not that men are carriers and very rarely have symptoms of an outbreak but women have to suffer through the painful outbreaks. I would definitely see another doctor though....You didn't say if you just did a urine test or if they did an exam. I would think a doctor would be able to see right away if it was an STD or if they felt it was just yeast. I've had herpes for a long time and know quite a bit about the virus. Good luck to you I hope maybe I helped some.... :) "

" Just so you know there is a blood test for herpes if your dying to know immediately, I don't think it's as effective as getting the fluid from the sores but i don't think it could give you a false negative. I have an obsessive fear of getting herpes too and because of this I read every little piece of literature on it I can and can tell you alot more about it if you'd like. ALTHOUGH, I also had a similar situation to yours where I had a yeast infection that wouldn't go away after using several yeast infection treatments. When I had my problem I tried to do research and self diagnose because I hate my gynecologist and what I found my problem to be was dermitis of the vulva. If your itching on the inside then I would still go see a doctor but if its just the outer area try putting hydrocortisone on it for like 2 weeks, it cleared me up:) "
