Herpes and Fibromyalgia and other Stress

Hi everyone! I am new to this board, but not to DS. I posted this on the Fibro board but wanted any help you ladies might be able to give too. Do any of you have both herpes and Fibromyalgia? If so, can you tell me a little about any relationship between the 2? Is it possible to have herpes for a really long time, or like you never knew you had it until the fibro, or other stress, started it up? (lol- and did your spouse/boyfriend believe that?) Thank you for your help - I am just starting to ask questions about my situation and wondering if this is perhaps a health problem I have... Hope you all have a pain and worry free night! Blessings,Star

" When I asked my Dr the question about how long you can have it before knowing and he told me that it's more common in men to have HSV2 and not know it then women. He said that most women will have an outbreak within 2-20 days of contact. I suppose there are those cases in women that it doesn't show for years, but he said it's highly unlikely and in his 45 years of GYN, most women he has treated for HSV2 had outbreaks within 20 days of contact. " I agree...I guess because it's not a threat to your life it's not a priority at the moment, but I do hope one day there is a cure too...it may not be in our lifetime but I do think there will be one someday "

" I can't believe I found someone else who thinks there is a correlation between these two illnesses. I've been wondering the same thing for a few weeks now and finally thot to google it. I just got married again 7 years ago and discovered I have Herpes about 4 or 5 yeras ago and now Fibromyalgia just this year. I've always had pain all my life but not all over my entire body all the time. Anyway I have been thinking that since herpes is a nerve related thing and Fibro is pain which would naturally have to do with nerves they have to be related. I just wonder how many ppl have both besides us. I'm truly sorry that any of you has either of these but also glad to find someone else that understands. "

" I have herpes 1 and 2, diagnosed earlier this year, after a man I dated for 5 months broke the news to me that he had it. Anyway, I spoke to my Anthem BC/BS nurse coordinator about this, and she told me that fibromyalgia and shingles (caused by herpes zoster) are have linked to a Vitamin D3 deficiency (the vitamin we get from sunlight). When you don't get outside much, you probably need to take this supplement. It boosts your immune system. I asked her if it would help HSV 1 and 2. She didn't know, but I bought some D3 anyway and take it every day. I have never had an outbreak and I hope I never do. "
