How many survivors like me do those two words PAP SMEAR strike chords of sheer horror and panic in?

Im 28 and have had two pap smears just recently had my second for which i had to take sedation and a very close female friend came along to hold my hand and support me when i crashed into a heap afterwards.

I work really hard at being a survivor and not a victim But this is one thing I just cant get past!!

I know you are supposed to go for one evry 2 years im lucky to get one in evry 5 to six years at this rate.

Please can other survivors of sexual abuse tell me wether pap smears effect them and how they deal with going. (i see a female Doctor).

" Yes you still need to have a pap smear even if you have never had sexual intercourse there are other ways to get sexually transmitted diseases oral sex anal sex stds can lead to cervical cancer and sometimes we dont even know we have and std. its a common myth that if your a lesbian you dont need a pap smear but you do if you have never ever had any sexual contact then its unlikely that you will develop cervical cancer but the chances are not Nill it is recomended that you have a pap smear within three years of your first sexual contact it is also a myth that if a virgin (i.e never had sexual intercourse but have had other sexual contact therefore requiring a pap smear has a smear this WILL NOT break the hymen. after a smear googleif your hymen is in contact before hand it will be afterwards. If your unsure there are some great sites you can google just type in do i need a smear if ive never had sexual intercourse. still unsure check with your doc "
