so...my doctors (normal doc + doc in urgent card + two specialist gynocologists) ruled everything out BUT endometriosis, which will only be confirmed if they see it while going in for an exploratory surgery. I did a lot of research today on it to see what I'm up against, and I don't think it was CAUSED by my past traumas, because one was three years ago, and the other was exactly a year ago. But, I'm really really upset because I read that most people who have had endometriosis will still experience severe pain after treatment if they have had past sexual abuse. I already deal with a lot of emotional/psychological problems because of being raped twice I DON'T need to have my physical pain stick around forever because of it, too. It makes me so furious and I don't feel like I can express it to anyone.
this is such crap. Posted on 11/06/09, 02:11 am |

Wow, I'm not at all familiar with endometriosis so I can't speak on it. However, what you describe sounds painful. What do you think about getting a second opinion? Whenever surgery is involved it's usually helpful to get an opinion at 2 places. Big hugs to you!!

thanks for your respoinse, soulbird. i saw 5 different doctors since june for the same issue, and none could figure out what it was. the only possibility any of them came up with that was not ruled out is endometriosis. :/

I had endoscopic surgery to look at and treat endometriosis and it wasn't bad at all. I took a few days afterward to feel normal, but it was actually a relief to care for my body for once and trust others to do so too. My monthly pain has diminished. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I don't know if this will help you at all, but I've been dealing with problems similar to yours for the last 4 years. I've been on the pill for the last 5 years as trying to help, but I've still gotten pain. They basically told me that I had endo, but hadn't done the surgery to check - I was apparently too young. But then at the beginning of october when it should have been my time of the month, my period never came. I had a lot of pain though, so I finally made an appointment after 5 negative preg tests and being almost 3 weeks late. Went to the doc and she said they'd schedule the exploratory surgery for late November, then she decided to do an internal ultrasound just because I'd been in pain. Turns out I had a very large cyst which apparently needed to be removed immediately, and they'd get any endo out too. This was a Saturday and I had the surgery on the following Tuesday.
They drained the cyst, but found no endo. Apparently I'm just prone to cysts, sometimes they drain themselves and sometimes they slowly leak. But I digress. Point is, maybe you don't even have endo, that's what they thought it was for me and that's going on 4 years of tests. They even sent me for a colonoscopy - I'm 23. But I am recovering from the surgery that they want you to have, so if you need someone to talk to about that, maybe I can be at least a little helpful. Let me know. Try to stay positive.
