Anyone presently or in the past using this as a form of therapy?

This potentially sounds like an effective method of anxiety control around therapist, but how alert are you? Is there a risk for being molested again?

How much control do you have during the process ?

" Tom,
I have been hypnotized. I was only vaguely aware of what was going on around me. I know of cases in which people were sexually molested while under hypnosis. The risk however is very small if you are with someone who is a certified hypnotherapist.

There is more than one level of certification. Generally, those with the most initials after their name are the ones with the higher certification.

Sometimes it helps. Other times it does not. I know of no cases in which the client was damaged by the attempt. "

" Thanx Crusty.
I have seen a bunch of VA employees use hypnosis as a party game many years ago, but no actually hurt, only laughed at.

I do not feel hurt by the psych intern who did this to me several years ago either, but it's the malicious femi-nazis who run the mental health industry that bother me today.
I'd give this consideration 'if' I had the ability to leave.

" Hi,
I had this done a couple of times by a very experienced hypnotherapist. I dont think it worked on me properly because I wasnt in a trance or deep state. it was basically like guided meditation for me. it did nothing for me.
it may work for you. personally i want to try many different therapies because you never know if something will help you or not.
good luck "

" Hypnosis is bullshit please do not let some dick head take your money go see a therapist, or a really professional its a carnival trick that has been debunked countless times by countless people even real hypnosis "experts" admit it is a scam and that the person who is really doing all the work is the victim.

" Hi, TomSinTn.
I've undergone hypontherapy before. However, my situation was like sonyas77. I wasn't in a deep state and it was very much like "guided meditation". It helped a little with little things, but I was still too conscious to go through with it (with the bigger stuff) without having severe anxiety. =/ "

" Hypnosis the best solution I've found. My therapist made sleep hypnosis recordings that play every night while I sleep. I went from having multiple attacks every day to 3 or 4 a month when I started the sleep hypnotherapy.

Posthypnotic trigger words are the ONLY way to get me out of an akinesia or aphonia attack. "

" It is my understanding that not everyone has the same level of hypnotizability therefore it might not work for everyone who actually tries it.

It is also true as solidess stated that there are also many cases/allegations that people have either been further harmed by hypnotherapy or are believed to have recovered false memories.

For me personally it would probably require an extreme level of trust before I would even consider it, regardless of a professional's qualifications. "
