  • FOREST WALK

Friday, June 6, 2008 | An Inspiring story

This forest is awesome.  It is cool and a little dark where we walk -  the sun filters through above - it is magical.
The trees wrapping around one another as they grow.  I would like to live in this forest.  I could use SOMETHING wrapping around me:)
It's a little like a wonderland - I expect pixies to leap out at any point - Heinze loves it too.  I wish the deer...

I approached today as if it were any other day...it's hard not to when you've been dealing with sick kids for 2 weeks, being run down yourself from the viruses and multiple wakings at night.  I started thinking about this year...this milestone that I have reached.  1 year cancer free!
Huge when you look at cancer statistics...most recurrence happens in the first year.  Every...

  • Update - About me

    Saturday, May 9, 2009

I just want to let you all know that I have been on DS for almost two years now.  When I first joined, I had recently been discharged from a two week stay at Two Rivers Psychiatric Hospital.  I have come a long way and thanks to Daily Strength, I was able to grow, learn, and share.  Knowing my triggers and Using Affirmations and Cognitive Therapy has been a big help in my recovery....

     Easter Cats
So, I have this really gorgeous flame point himalayan (that would be a cat for those of you who are not ailurophiles, aka cat lovers) and I had this great (ok, stupid) idea to dress him up as an Easter Bunny to take a picture and post on here for all my DS friends.  I mean what could be cuter than a cat dressed up as a bunny?  hmmm, the first thing that comes to mind wo...

Ok this journal may not be for everyone, but I just have to write about it, so here we go...
    Fun with Femine Hygiene
I went to our house in Rock Hill this past weekend and because my husband wasn't expecting me I went by the grocery store to grab something for dinner.  I didn't know what he had to eat at the house, so I was going to call him when I got into the store.  ...

  • Journal Entry for March 13, 2008

    Thursday, March 13, 2008

I had two doctors’ appointments this week (Tuesday the 11th and Wednesday the 12th).
My doctor’s appointment on Tuesday was with a gastriologist in Toronto. I wasn't expecting to get too much out of the appointment because I have a fear of needles and she hasn't recommended any test that doesn't involve needles. We had talked about sedatives with her bu...

  • Retarded Grandparents

    Saturday, August 9, 2008

This was actually reported by a teacher.
After Christmas, a teacher asked her young pupils how they spent their holiday away from school.
One child wrote the following: we always used to spend the holidays with grandma and grandpa. They used to live in a big brick house but grandpa got retarted and they moved to Florida. Now they live in a tin box and have rocks painted green to look like grass. Th...

  • A life without ED......

    Saturday, July 19, 2008

So, things are going good.. Like all people in the world, I have good and bad days.. The bad are getting less, and less. I am slowly finding the happiness, that everyone has talked about.. When I say people, I mean, doctors, therapists, nutrionists, counselors, and all the people I have met along the way.. The hardest part of this recovery is not so much the food, but about who I thought I was,&n...

  • Parent's and forgiveness

    Wednesday, May 7, 2008

I've considered writing a journal entry on this topic for a while and thought I'd just put it out there with hope that someone might benefit. I'm very clear what I did probably won't work for some but for some it may, so it's worth writing.
First a little background. I grew up in a home where there were copious amounts of physical, sexual, emotional and spiritual abuse. This en...
