Thought for the Day (Day 78)

Dear folks,
Today we shall be looking at another aspect of recovery which is personal growth. Here's your thought of the day, "Personal growth can be painful, because it can make us feel ashamed and humiliated to face our own darkness. But our spiritual goal is the journey out of fear-based, painful mental habit patterns, to those of love and peace." Marianne Williamson We we choose to grow out of our addicted lives, we encounter all sorts of dreadful realizations about ourselves, we encounter all sorts of garbage, for lack of a better term. But that's the nature of cleaning house, as it were, is it not? When we shine a light at our addictive lives, we see ourselves as we really are, at that moment, merely automatons and slaves to the addiction of choice which in turn makes us feel ashamed and humiliated that our lives have sunk so low. But that's actually the best news, because once we see exactly where the addiction has taken us, we can find our way back. Merely deciding not to continue the path is the proper course of action. Finding our way back is much better but we need to look at everything the light is showing us, otherwise we'll miss the amazing lessons, they have to give us, so that we do not make the same mistake again ever. Been there, done that, as they say. Hugs, Wolf Posted on 06/30/12, 08:44 am |

Wolf,
I think there is more hope and promise in this Thought of the Day than any before it. It feels so sweet and full of kindness. This one's going to be hard to top; (Day 78) but I'm sure you will.

Shameless,
I have often said that one of the disadvantages of being good at something is eventually having to top yourself. :) High paws, Wolf
