" I am still around, and this group has been very inactive.

Most of us older types are rather set in our opinions and that makes it tough to get a conversation going.

So welcome aboard. "

" Wow you're not kidding booky. It seems like there ARE many in this forum with the same issues and loneliness. If we could share our misery maybe it would lessen. I didnt think I was a senior yet but hey, I go wherever I can to feel better.. (well almost anywhere). I have read many of your posts booky and you are very wise. I appreciate your candor and respect that your show others. "

" Well I am happy that you like my outspoken words, because some people do not.

As to being a "senior", some years ago I went to the local Methodist Church and it had an advertisement of an event happening for "Seniors" and the brochure said seniors over 50 years old, and that there was the first time for me to be classified as a senior.

I remember the day well as it touched me. "

" I think they should change the name of this group... I know I am NOT a senior yet..lol. Well I though this group looked like a good idea but there is no activity in here...I think they should call it the Over 50 group..what do you think? "

" There really are a lot of people in this group in their 40's so over 50 is not the better idea.

I use to not like being a "senior" but it is only a name, and I like being over 50 now.

And I have always disliked the idea of separating people into age groups because very often young children like their old grandparents and like older people while most older people like to be around children. I myself love to have children running and playing around me. And middle age people need the older ones for influence and guidance, and middle age is usually the ones with young children, so a big bunch of people with all ages mixed together is what I like best. " I did write to the DS folks and they are keeping my suggestion.for an Over Fifties site. I think more have to ask for it. Perhaps it should be called Over Forty than Booky, to include all those that have used this site previously. I hear what you're saying about the mixed sites and having the kids and stuff. I enjoy that type of atmosphere as well, but for this site I thought it was more of an adult site. I was hoping for somewhere to discuss dating, sexuality, within my age group. I dont feel that it is a place for teens, or young adults, as the older group have unique issues and challenges. Maturity brings different view points at times, although some young ones can be very mature as well. I am more comfortable discussing sexual issues with my peers. That is my comfort zone and it has taken me a while to feel comfortable with that. I do hope more show up in this site. "

" I'm still here! I'm just awaiting some good conversation! LOL! Oh, an over 50 group sounds so much better than that word "senior"! "

" Hi Kate,

you could start an "Over 50" group yourself because DS gives anyone the option of starting a new group. "
