Hello everybody. I was just wondering do the urges ever go away or is that something I will have to live with for the rest of my life?

" hey welcome to DS! i can't speak for everybody, just for myself. it's been about six months since i've cut, and the urges have drastically decreased. i go whole weeks without it even being an issue. that being said, i have my bad days, when life gets to me and i do still want to cut sometimes. i don't know if the urges will ever be gone for good, but i do know that as time goes on we get stronger, and we're more able to fight them. " i agree with halfwoven. things do get easier, silentjoe. ive found that its like any addiction tho. you still have nagging thoughts in the back of your mind but maybe not very often at all. i havent injured for several months also and the thoughts are there but the longer i go without doing it the easier it is to resist doing it. " Hey and welcome! It really depends on the person. The urges will get better at times yet worse at others (at least mine is). Sometimes the urges are not really there and others they are there full blast. For me I guess it depends on the things going on in my life. Sometimes though I things can be going great yet I still have the urges bad. "
