When I get the urges to cut i feel like I need to do it. Almost like when you have been camping all week and you realy need to shower, and you just keep noticing that your dirty and it wont go away untill you shower. Its the same thing, I can put it off but the feeling just stays there Its like I need to get clean by cutting, ughhh I have gone a year without cutting, I have gone another separate 6 months without cutting, yet I just keep comming back to it, I am never done, It is just getting to the point where I dont think I am going to ever stop, I feel like I am going to be one of those lifers :( I mean I am 21 I have been doing this for almost a decade! This is insane, Ugh. Is there a way out? and how do you know when your out, I mean I have gone a whole year to the point where i have not even thought about it, and sitll went back to it!!?! Will I ever be done?

" I know how you feel. I've gone almost 2 years at this point... but now I'm getting that feeling like I have to. I don't want to, but I don't know how else to get rid of that feeling. My theory on being done is that, if each time I can go a little longer, that's an improvement. If I can make it over a year, and then this time if I can make it to 2 years, well then even if I do give in I should be able to make it at least 2 and a half years next time.
I don't know that we'll ever be "done" because I think it's kind of like an addiction maybe. It might always be there in the back of your mind. I've found that other coming mechanisms help make it longer between times I need to do it. And also not being hard on yourself over it helps. If you give in you just tell yourself "okay, I'm not perfect, but next time I'll make it a little bit longer."
Sorry for rambling. I'm 23 and I've been at it for a little over a decade now. Hope this helps? Message me anytime. :-) "

" I know exactly what you mean! I want to stop yet I'm scared to stop. I'm 26 and have been cutting since I was 13. It's been a part of my life since then. I feel like if I quit I will lose part of me! Way to go on going a year!! That's a great accomplishment! Sorry you end up going back to it. Hope it gets better! I'm here! "
