I started cutting, and I used a razor I found in my drawer. I keep it in my Urban Decay make up palette. I was in a psych ward for a bit, and they taught me all these different ways to cope with wanting to cut, and I'm going to psychotherapy soon. But, I can't seem to part with the razor itself. I feel like I'll freak out if I don't have it. Knowing it's not there in my make up palette that I take EVERYWHERE would make me very anxious. Has anyone ever felt this way? Someone help. :[

you're not alone. it definitely is a security blanket. sometimes as long as i know it's there, i'm okay and i won't cut. but as soon as i know it's not there anymore i freak out and need to find something. you can get help and try to get away from this addiction without throwing away the razor just yet. throw it away when you're ready. once you feel strong enough to not have it physically there anymore, it'll be a huge step in your process of healing. i wish you luck. message me anytime

I agree with the above comment, it is like a security blanket.
Don't throw it away until you're ready to throw it away and when you're able to do it you'll feel so proud of youself because you've done. Throwing it away is a major step towards recovery and it proves how strong you are. Good luck :)

verry hard not to cut but not ready to part with it yet realy not ready to distence myself from it yet I have been thinking about maybe putting it in my meds bottle because I have been to my first psy apontment last week and they started me on new meds they seem to be helping some but just not ready to part with my razer yet. Hi AnxiousVegan. I totally relate to this, mine is a couple of different exacto knifes (one upstairs and one down, so I always have access regardless of where the kids are). I also get real nervous if I don't have lot's of different sized bandages around for the afterwards.
Tried turning them over to my therapist, but within a couple days I went out and bought more. She knows I did that, but hasn't asked for them flat out. I feel like I would just use something different that is worse. I don't bring one with me usually, but I work from home so I'm not gone that much. I liked the above comments, it feels good to imagine day I will be able to let them go because I don't need them anymore. Hugs to you, Xena

Yes I feel this way. I keep one with my at all times hide in my purse. I know I shouldn't but like you I don't think I could handle not having it with me. It is like a security blanket!
