through the last 2-3 months and especially in the last week, i have learned of 5 friends, a couple of them are family friends that cut themselves or self-harm in some way, either now or in the past. i was so surprised that so many of the people i knew did it. and these are people who would NEVER have crossed my mind to be self-harmers. it was so surprising and it made me think about how many silent cases there REALLY are around me

i mean seriously, everyone thinks that they are the only person that does it. i think that it's SO much more common than you think it is....

what do you think?

" I've always worried that people would think I was some kind of mental defect if they found out ... like no one would ever trust me to be by myself. I valued my, admittedly sad and desperate, coping mechanism to much for others to know about it and be able to stop me.

Maybe that's why most of hide? I'm not really sure. "

" I just found out a few nights ago that one of my ex boyfriends does it. I never knew that and he never knew it about me. I also found out a good friend does it. It's more common than it use to be or either more people are willing to talk about it. "
