As I sit here alone and sad
I think of our life together
how it was you and I
Mark and Kathy
and i think of all we did
I also think of what we had planned to do
and promises we had made
missing you
I miss your smile
your embrace
your jokes
and even your anger
We had a rocky start
who doesn't
and we had the lean years
Shopping exclusively at Aldi's
we had the surprise baby years

i thought really hard today
about how i would react
if you took something from me
and never gave it back
it was yours in the first place
i understand that phrase
and how "everything happens for a reason"
and how "you work in mysterious ways"

Unknown people,
Walking around.
Voices telling me,
"Don't make a sound."
They touched an arm,
And then stroked my leg.
"Please don't hurt me,"
I started to beg.
Put into bed,
And tied with ropes.
Probing rough hands,
Dashed all of my hopes.
