Hi im a diabetic 16 yr old girl who is about to have the operation in the summer. i am going back to have a second consultant and have breathing tests and things next week. i dont know a lot about it but they said they will fuse a lot of my middle back.
people have mentioned braces after the opp? does everyone have them? i have a curve of 58 degrees which i know is a lot less than most but the minimum to have to the opp is 40 degrees. they said i also might have a scar on the front aswell. i scared about what will happen. can anyone help me?

" hey,
for all that wants to know, i had my follow up day yesterday, i had breathing tests, MRI scan,MORE x-rays and several consultants on different parts, they say im a quite low risk of developing any problems after the surgery, i am going to have two scars, one along my side (horizantal) to remove sum of the blocks between my spine so it was room to move and one obvisiously along my middle back to have the fusion take place.i will apparently be in the opperating theatre for roughly a day while it all goes on. i will then have lots of wires be in ( one in my neck, 4 in arms, and a uriney thing (ahhhh))
i will be in intensive care for a day and then moved into a normal ward when they think im ok enough. i will be in the hospital for 8 days (hopefully if all goes to plan) and then will be at home for six weeks recovering. i wil miss a lot of school which i am worried about. so thats the basics :)
Isla xxxx "
