My 15 year old daughter will be having spinal surgery in August. They are inserting 1 rod through the flank since her curature is primarily in her lower back (47 degrees). Has anyone had this surgery?
She is more concerned about wearing the after surgery brace to school (24 hours a day for 6 months)than anything else. It seems like such a major surgery and I am so scared. Posted on 07/20/09, 09:07 pm |

Marge, I just had spinal fusion back in September, and again in October. I was fused from T5 to L2. I had 65 and 31 degree curves and had to have two titanium rods and screws inserted. I am now almost 100% back to normal. If you or her have any questions feel free to contact me anytime. She or you can msg me on here or if you prefer exchange screen names and IM back and forth. I would be happy to help because I know how scared I felt before going in. I have had scoliosis since I was 13 and lived with the pain for 10 years. I am now 23. Don't be scared just think positive! Hope to hear back from you!
